Account status codes

Metro 2 account status code 84: 180 or more days past due

What code 84 means

The account is at least 180 days past the due date and is still being reported as a delinquent account rather than as a charge-off or collection. It's the deepest delinquency band in the Metro 2 status list. The lender can keep reporting it this way each month until the account is paid, settled, charged off or sent to collections.

How it shows on your report

"180 days late" or "180+," or a 120-or-more symbol on bureaus that group the severe bands.

How it affects your score

Late payments are among the most damaging items in payment history. FICO looks at how late, how recent and how many, so each step further behind generally hurts more. No one can tell you an exact point drop.

What to check

This status should follow 150 days late, not jump from a milder status. If a separate charge-off or collection tradeline exists for the same debt, the two should agree on balance and dates. The date of first delinquency should be the first missed payment that was never caught up, about six months earlier.
