Metro 2 compliance condition code XA: closed at consumer's request
You asked the lender to close the account. The code records who made the closing decision. It doesn't mean the balance is gone: if money is still owed, payments need to continue and the account keeps reporting them until it's paid. It isn't a dispute flag, even though it sits in the same field as the dispute codes.
How it shows on your report
"Closed at consumer's request" or "Account closed by consumer."
How it affects your score
The closing reason itself isn't scored as a negative, but closing a card removes its limit from your utilization math.
What to check
If the lender closed the account and the report says you did, or the reverse, the closing reason is wrong. Lender closures usually carry special comment M instead. An account you closed with a balance should keep reporting that balance and your payments until it's paid.
