Metro 2 special comment code CM: collateral released, balance owing
The lender released its claim on the collateral, but a balance is still owed. Seen on secured accounts such as mortgages and home equity loans. It can happen, for example, when the lender releases its lien on a property but still holds you responsible for the debt.
How it shows on your report
A remark like "Collateral released by creditor, balance owing."
How it affects your score
Neutral by itself. The balance and payment history count as usual.
What to check
The account should show an open balance, not $0. If you paid the loan off and received a lien release, this remark is wrong and the status should be paid.
