Metro 2 special comment code CN: modified under a federal government plan
The loan's terms were permanently changed under a federal government program, typically a mortgage modification program. A modification can lower the payment, change the rate, extend the term or fold missed payments into the balance. It's different from forbearance, which pauses or reduces payments for a set period.
How it shows on your report
A remark like "Loan modified under a federal government plan."
How it affects your score
The modification remark isn't a late payment, but any lates before it still count. Some mortgage programs look at modifications during underwriting.
What to check
Payments made during a trial plan should match how your agreement said they'd be reported. After the modification, the balance, payment and status should reflect the new terms. Keep a copy of the signed modification agreement.
